Wireless POS And Wireless Mobile Computing– Restaurant Software Increases Profits
by: Derek Meade
Until recently, restaurant and hospitality owners were wary of adopting wireless POS systems for their establishments. Issues such a cost, ease of use and a general uncertainty about new technology caused them to take pause. Nowadays, however, with the popularity of PDA’s, Blackberries, cell phones and the like, mobile technology and wireless mobile computing has become main stream, and hospitality providers are taking a second look.
In a high cost and competitive market, it’s no wonder that those in the hospitality industry want technology to help them increase revenues. But how can a wireless POS device help them achieve this?
Wireless mobile computing can help in many ways. One such instance is by eliminating the need for staff to line up at a specific POS terminal to place orders. By utilizing mobile technology, serving staff are more productive since time spent during the order taking process is decreased. Wireless mobile computing also allows serving staff to place orders instantly, and then go directly to the next table, thereby increasing table turns. And because serving staff are more productive, significant savings can be seen through decreased labor costs.
Google - PR & Backlinks
April 21, 2008
Here are some observations that I have made recently:
1. On several of my own sites, I have some pages with zero page rank despite having links pointing to them PR 5 pages on the same site. These pages are now 2-3 months old. Shouldn’t they have PR by now?
2. Most of these pages rank well despite the apparent PR 0.
3. Doing searches on Google show up a lot of anomalies. Many top ranking pages have PR 0.
For example, go to http://www.prsearch.net/
This is that great search tool I mentioned last week which gives you the PR and backlinks of the search results. Do a search for Bratz dolls..
Here are the top 10 sites when I search:
#1 PR 6 Backlinks - 151
#2 PR 7 Backlinks - 5
#3 PR 0 Backlinks - 18
#4 PR 4 Backlinks - 2
#5 PR 0 Backlinks - 0
#6 PR 0 Backlinks - 0
#7 PR 0 Backlinks - 0
#8 PR 0 Backlinks - 0
#9 PR 6 Backlinks - 46
#10 PR 0 Backlinks - 11

How To Put A Site Online And Make Money From It
by: Jonathan White
Before designing your website and putting it online you have to first plan it all out. For example, you will need to think of what topic your site will be based on. For example, will it be a free stuff site like http://www.1freebieseeking.com or will it be a more larger general site like http://www.simplysearch4it.com with online games at http://games.simplysearch4it.com a product search at http://products.simplysearch4it.com and more. You will also have to think of how your site will make you money and also how competitive the market is, which you will be approaching.
Once you have done all of your planning your will then need to design your site. There are many good tutorials around on the web that will help you in designing your website. Once you have designed your website you will then need to consider, which web hosting provider you are going to use for your website. There is a large amount of different type of web hosting providers across the web. Some are very good and reliable and some are not so good or reliable.
Web Hosting Service ? What you Need to Know to Change Web Hosting Providers
April 18, 2008
When service at your web hosting company is lacking, or your web site grows in traffic so much that you outgrow your current account, you may find yourself needing to change hosting providers. It can be scary to think about everything you need to do. Here are some things you should keep in mind that will help make the transition to the new host much easier.
1. Backup all of your files and databases
Before you decide to transfer anything over, you need to create a backup of every file and database you have on the current hosting provider’s server. FTP into your current hosting account and copy all of the files from your public_html directory into a directory on your local hard drive that you’ll find easy to remember later.
As for the database, backup methods will vary according to the database vendor, the control panel being used by the host if any, and the operating system of the server. Most providers provide a backup utility that allows you to save a copy of the contents of all of your database tables. If there isn’t a simple backup utility available, you will need to export the contents of your database in a comma delimited file or the standard file format for the particular database you use. Most backup utilities will convert the database into one long SQL file that is then easy for any compatible database engine to reconstruct.
Love at First Site: Giving Your Website Visitors the right Impression
April 17, 2008
Think of the people who visit your site as blind dates. When you open the door, your blind date usually knows whether they are attracted to you within the first minute. How do they know? Easy. By how you look, what you say, and how you treat them. If you open the door wearing the same clothes you wore in 1987, say, “Wow, from my friend’s description, I thought you would be a lot better looking,” and sneeze in your dates face, not only will you never get a second date, your date will run for his/her life.
The same rules apply to your website. When people do a search for something they want to buy, they usually have many sites to choose from. If yours does not impress them right off the bat, it takes about five seconds for them to find another that does show them what they want to see. There are plenty of other fish in the sea. You are just one among many.
So what do people want to see, you ask? There are 3 standards of website excellence, and they are the same standards you would use to judge your blind date:
Maintaining Your Business Website
April 16, 2008
QUESTION: Should I build and maintain my business Web site myself or pay someone else to do the work for me? — Wesley L.
ANSWER: When you say, pay someone else to do the work for you, Wesley, I am going to assume that you are talking about hiring a professional Web site designer to do the work and not your next-door neighbor’s teenage son. If my assumption is correct, then read on. If not, go ahead and flip over to the comics section. You will get no good out of the advice I’m about to give, so you might as well consult Dilbert for your hot business tips.
Should you build and maintain your business Web site yourself or pay someone to do it for you? Let me answer your question with a couple of my own. Number one: is building and maintaining Web sites the key focus of your business? Number two: could your time be better spent doing more important things like, oh I don’t know, say running your business? If your answers were no and yes, respectively, then you have no business building and maintain a Web site.

Make a Photo Collage with Style
by: Lisa Janice
Have you been trying to get a simple and practical photo editing tool? Have you been creating a photo collage with style?Wondershare Photo Collage Studio is a new digital photo collage utility that assembles favourite photos into an artistic compilation. With Photo Collage Studio, you can make great-looking photo collages, either quickly and easily - with templates, or creatively - with rich animated/static cliparts to choose from. And each masterpiece can printed over and over again. Truth to tell - I enjoy using it.
Some may ask: I have Photoshop; why do I need any other software to work with images? What’s good about this Photo Collage Studio? Here’s my opinion: Photo Collage Studio provides an alternative way for those people who would like to edit their photos, but would rather not spend time on some hard-to-master software like PhotoShop. In PhotoShop, you may need several steps to add mask or set an appropriate shadow. But in Photo Collage Studio, just select a sample, then with a click you can see the same effect right away. You may also see the detailed merits as following:
