Track or Perish
September 30, 2008
Who me? Track?
Now I realize some turn a blind eye towards tracking results on their site. Either preferring to look the other way or perhaps asking Stevie Wonder to watch over it for them. Because apparently their attitude is if they’ve got money coming in, well, how bad can it be?
Dunno. And if you don’t want to maximize the cash flow from your site I suppose that’s between you and Stevie.
But if you’re not tracking what’s working on your site, you’re flying blind. Maybe even leaving serious money on the table. Because how can you improve if you have nothing to compare to?
Sorry for the heavy dose of reality. But remember this. You can have more traffic than Google but if it doesn’t convert what good is it?
Take for example that hot site that streams a hilarious cartoon poking fun at John Kerry and George W Bush. It was created by two brothers who happened to be on Jay Leno the other night.
They revealed to Jay they had had 20 million hits to their site.
The brothers also confessed their plan to accept donations to support their work generated all of, you ready for this, $1000!
Part Time Internet Marketing with A Full Time Approach
September 29, 2008
The deluge of people wanting to make money on the internet has exploded in the past few years. It’s getting to the point where anyone that has a computer has heard of or has been tempted by such income. From affiliate marketing to playing around on e-bay, “wanna-be” Internet marketers and online business entrepreneurs are abundant.
This explosion has in part, been fueled by entrepreneurs that have “day jobs.” Internet marketing and online business, “on the side” is commonplace with today’s “day job” work force. The online business explosion is also due to the myriad of opportunities available, the tools available and all of the knowledge right at our mouse tips. Another driver is the whole notion of continuous learning. These same entrepreneurs from all walks of life realize that learning the internet, learning marketing, learning about the tools and information at hand is a continuous learning experience. That is, if they want to be a player and do things right. New methods, new tools, new information are emerging daily. Staying on top of the latest trends is just as important as learning a fundamental base.
Finding A Home Business That’s Right For You

Finding A Home Business That’s Right For You
by: Stephen Wright
Making a bazillion dollars on the internet. It’s as easy as doing a few Google searches, getting your own website and you are up and running. The only real issue is how to find the time in your leisure activities to make it to the bank to cash all the checks! Yeah, right. Stop dreaming, it just doesn’t happen that way. In fact according to statistics, more internet marketers end up “in the hole” after investing significant resources (time and money) only to give up in dismay and disappointment. But why, what went wrong?
More times than not, many of these efforts fail before they even get off the ground. This most commonly is caused by a failure to establish a solid foundation with which to build upon in your efforts. How does on do that? Simple, start out be a careful and thoughtful evaluation of oneself. What are you good at? What do you like doing, for fun, business, or pleasure? It is really remarkable the amount of successful web-owners and marketers who are successful in doing something they really love or are good at. Some call it finding our “forte”. The “trick” then becomes finding “your niche” and then structuring your efforts and resources with your internet business around those interests.
What Constitutes a Complete and Effective SEO Campaign?
September 27, 2008
Unfortunately, not many Search Engine Optimization companies know what this involves. You may see a “one size fits all” package, link popularity development in the form of submitting to link farms, or even the dreaded “Submit Your Site to 1000’s of Search Engines” scam. While the basic premise of each of these ideas is true, the execution of them is extremely important.
First of all, your web site needs human attention. A real person should thoroughly analyze your site before any work is done. Get them on the phone and ask them questions. There should be a clear process that the Search Engine Optimization company uses and tailors to each client. The SEO company should also have a clear idea of what your goals are for your web site.
The first step in any work that is done should be keyword research. Like any kind of advertising, you need to know where your target market goes and how they find businesses like yours. The keywords chosen should apply to the theme of the web site. High rankings for these keywords should also be obtainable given your budget. If you are a computer repair shop with one or two locations in a city and can not service computers outside your area, then targeting a term such as “computer repair” is overkill. The cost for obtaining high rankings for a term such as that will be far greater than what you will make from the exposure, as much of your web site traffic will not be targeted enough.
How Online DVD Rental Works

How Online DVD Rental Works
by: Sandra Stammberger
I used to be a member of a regular DVD rental store. Once a week I would visit it, choose from the selection of DVDs available, and settle down for a relaxing evening of movie watching. The only problem was that I often had trouble getting to the video store to return my rental on time. More often than not I was paying overdue fees that meant my DVD evening was becoming a very expensive affair. Then I saw an advert about online DVD rentals and I have never paid a late fee since.
The way that online DVD rental companies work is very simple. You sign up for the service, and pay a monthly fee. This fee depends on how many DVDs you want to have out at any one time. I chose the maximum three from my service. Once you have your account set up then you need to prepare your list of DVDs. This is easy to do, and you can compile your list from all DVDs that have ever been released. I usually have a few old favourites, as well as a few new releases to keep a nice balance. I also change the order of my list around depending on the mood that I am in. The system then selects the first three DVDs from your list that are available, and mails them to you.
I Too Was An Internet Marketing Junkie!
September 26, 2008
I spent every waking hour at my computer, looking for the ‘Golden Fleece’ of marketing. I spent hours, and days, and more hours in hopes of finding the one Marketing plan that would allow me to achieve my dreams, and goals.
I spent thousands of dollars that could have been more wisely spent paying my bills, and necessities of life; on one marketing program, or E-book after another. Joining one affiliate program after another until like so many others, I no longer knew which program I was attempting to promote: and giving none the attention that was necessary to really make it a success.
Then a fortunate (?) thing happened: my computer DIED! It didn’t just crash, It laid down and died. As in un-repairable completely dead!
There I sat, day after day in front of a blank screen with literally thousands of dollars worth of programs locked up inside of a dead computer going thru withdrawal. I had spent three years chasing the ‘GOLDEN FLEECE’, and had nothing but a dead computer to show for it.
Cant Write Articles For Links? Write code!
September 25, 2008
If you’ve subscribed to an seo newsletter for longer than a week, you’re well aware that writing articles with tips and advice pertaining to your website’s subject is a great way to generate links and traffic. But what if you can’t write or are afraid to write? Well, if you can write software, you’re still in luck! In this article I’ll show you a trick that can still garner you hundreds of links and won’t require you know the difference between adjectives and adverbs.
I’ll use my own little website as an example (I freely admit that I am neither a web designer nor a programmer). My wife and I own By Request DJ & Karaoke Company. Obviously, we specialize in weddings dances, school dances, company parties, and karaoke. We recently went through the process of converting all our CDs to compressed digital audio files which are played from a computer rather than hauling around thousands of CDs. In the process of ripping and encoding our music, I found many tasks were very repetitive and time consuming. Since I know a smattering of Visual Basic, it was simple to write a utility to automate these tasks. I figured that if it was helpful to me, some other DJ might find it helpful to, so I called my utility MP3G to ZIP and made it available for download from my website. I also decided to submit it to a few freeware sites just so it was easier to find.
Your Future Profit Is In The Stars
September 24, 2008
You don’t believe in astrology but you check your horoscope in the newspaper just for fun. Me too. But millions of people do believe in astrology and are willing to pay to know the future. This creates an opportunity for you to profit from an astrology web site.
Because the earth and other planets orbit around the Sun in the same plane, the planets appear to move through a belt in the sky called the “zodiac”. The zodiac is divided into twelve parts called “houses”.
Astrologers believe that the angles the planets make to each other and to the Sun and Moon affect our lives. Each house influences specific areas of our lives, such as health, money, career, and relationships.
The part of the zodiac that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of a person’s birth is that persons sign. My sign is Virgo. Virgos are hard working and dedicated to duty. They are also self-centered, critical, and lacking sympathy and empathy. Anyone who knows me would probably say that description fits me pretty well.
Why Use Professional Web Site Designers For Your Next Web Development Project?
September 23, 2008
Probably you know someone who has created a web site all by himself or herself. So if they can do it why use a professional at all? Can’t you create your own business or organization’s web site in your spare time and without the services of a professional web site designer? The answer is probably, yes. But following are some reasons why it may not be a wise idea for you.
Many non-professionals use WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web page creating software. While this kind of software is nice in that it’s similar to working with a word processing program, many of these programs don’t write “valid” HTML code. The problem with invalid HTML code is that while the page may look fine on some browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.), it may not look even acceptably good on some other browsers or even on different versions of the same browser. HostTycoon designs web pages that WILL validate according to W3C validations specifications. (Try using the W3C Validation Service to test a web site that a non-professional has designed and see the results.)
An In-Depth, Qualitative Analysis And Comparison Of Five Telephony Systems Models

An In-Depth, Qualitative Analysis And Comparison Of Five Telephony Systems Models
by: Cameron Elliott
After exhaustive research on the five main telephony systems models, the following illustrates main points of each model and delves deep into each model’s positive and negative attributes.
The five telephony systems are explored in order of least advanced to most.
Plain Old Telephone System: POTS is the original telephony system, a throwback to days when you would share a malt with your best gal and dance to Sinatra on your victrola.
POTS work thusly: telephone wires link a carrier to a business, allowing telephony services to take place. All phones inside the building are connected to this central wire.
Positive attributes:
-Little about POTS has changed since its first incarnation as two tin cans connected by string, but if it ain’t broke, why fix it? All non- VoIP telephony systems are based on POTS.
Negative attributes:
-Features are limited by telephone wires; POTS cannot offer the advanced features found in VoIP telephony systems.
-Offers little flexibility, something dynamic businesses need from a telephony system: POTS is entirely dependent on the carrier.
