Number One:
Write Articles. It is hard work to write a quality article but you will find it to be a long term strategy for building inbound links that will pay off for years to come in both link popularity and traffic to your website. You may not consider yourself an expert on a particular subject, but if you have a website I’ll bet you are an expert on the subject you have chosen for that website. An eBook Publishers Dilemma: Should I Use PDF or Exe Format?
May 29, 2009
If you write and publish eBooks, sooner or later youwill probably be faced with a dilemma - should youcreate your eBooks as .exe files or .pdf files?
PDF, which stands for Portable Document Format, is thefile extension for files created with Adobe Acrobat.
Exe, which stands for ‘executable’, is the extensionfor files created by eBook compilers.
PDF is widely considered to be the ‘industry standard’for eBook publishing, and for good reason. Here aresome of the advantages of PDF files over exe files:
(1) With most eBook compilers you have to set up eachpage of your eBook as a separate web page. With AdobeAcrobat you can use a single MS Word file as thesource document.
(2) PDF files automatically number each page - exefiles don’t.
(3) PDF files are very easy to edit - you can insertpages, replace pages and delete pages (and the pagenumbering is automatically adjusted).
(4) Printing from a PDF file is much easier thanprinting from an .exe file.
(5) The ‘bookmark’ column on the left side of a PDFfile makes navigation very easy - much easier than inan exe file.
(6) PDF files compress better than exe files, so youend up with a smaller, more manageable file.
Website Sales: 10 Super-Charged Tactics To Spark Up Your Sales
May 29, 2009
If your website sales are down and you desire to spark it up, here the secrets to do so:
1. Spend money on targeted advertising instead of mass media advertising. You don’t want to waste your ad dollars on people who aren’t interested.
2. Increase your profits by concentrating on small details. Improving small things like text size, color, or graphics can really make a positive difference.
3. Keep your offers flexible. If you offer a set price for your product, you could offer the people that can’t afford it an optional payment plan.
4. Offer your knowledge or consulting as a bonus product. You could offer a free 15 or 30 minute consultation. This will add value to your product.
5. Personalize all your e-mail messages so they get read. Include the recipient’s name in the subject line. This will grab peoples attention quickly.
6. Keep your web site consistent. You don’t want to keep things on your web site that are unrelated to the theme of your web site.
7. Attract more subscribers to your free e-zine by giving them free bonuses like e-books, software, online services and other incentives.

Are The Best Job Candidates Getting Away ?

Are The Best Job Candidates Getting Away ?
by: Joe Pelayo
All firms of all sizes in all areas of business want the best candidates for the jobs they have available. However, in recent years, the employee-candidate paradigm has been reversed. Because of a shortage of talented candidates, there is more competition between companies for the talent that is available. So, rather than the job candidate having to sell him or herself to the company, the Hiring Manager’s responsibility is to “sell” the quality, financial stability, and advancement opportunities of the company to the candidate.
It is now essential that firms revise their recruiting procedures and do not let the best candidates get away. Some simple adjustments should be enough for your company to stop those high quality candidates from going elsewhere.
Quick Response
Once you decide to fill a position, be committed to that decision and make hiring decisions quickly. View the hiring process like a project and ensure you meet your goal of hiring the “best candidate” in the shortest amount of time. Indecisiveness, time delays, budget reviews, etc., send a message to the candidate about the company’s lack of focus. If you wait two weeks following an interview to make an offer, your ideal candidate may have already accepted a job offer from elsewhere - even from one of your competitors.
Web Development Processes and Technical Environments
May 26, 2009
The process of Web application development is critical to the success of web-based projects. The proper processes can not be enforced unless technical environments are properly setup. Technical environments are required for development, test and production.
Web applications architecture ( http://www.sysoptima.net/architecture/technical_architecture.php ) is typically in 3-tiers. Applications are developed on NT platforms, and deployed to production on UNIX platforms. Without streamlined procedures and proper environment settings, deployment and testing is not only a frustrating experience, but also a major detriment in application failure and budget overrun.
Development and test environment may be powered by less powerful computers, but the configurations should be the same for all three environments. Development and test environments should be populated with production data periodically.
Development Environment
Role - The development environment is a place where development team develops and tests the applications. If applications are developed on NT, deployment to UNIX environment helps developers to port NT applications to UNIX environment and test UNIX specific tasks, such as shell scripts and cron jobs.
Security Concerns - Development team should have full control of and access to the environment, though installation of new software should be consulted with UNIX admin and DBA.
Competition Freebies and Sponsorship For Free Advertising and Link Popularity
May 25, 2009
How many competitions are there running on the net at this time? 1000 maybe? Nah, 100,000 is more than likely and when they pass their closing date there will be just as many to take their place.
So, why are companies so desperate to give away free stuff just for answering a question or two? I’ll tell you why…
…because it is an INCREDIBLY effective and very INEXPENSIVE way to get your company name mentioned on hundreds, if not thousands of websites, message boards, forums, blogs and conversations both in the online and offline world, not to mention the good PR it generates - that’s why!
Who doesn’t want their company name-dropped all over the place for what amounts to mere peanuts when compared to the costs of traditional advertising?
There are thousands of specialist competition and freebie sites whose sole purpose is to inform the rest of the internet when a new competition or freebie offer hits the internet. There are as many mailing lists, newsgroups, message boards and blogs on the same subject and YOUR company name could be plastered over all these when you add a competition giveaway to your site.
Is New MSN Search More Precise? Just Ask Google
May 24, 2009
MSN finally unleashed its new search technology to the world on Monday. The official announcement coming from Bill Gates introduced the New MSN Search engine, ending with a personal invitation to visit www.msn.com and â??type in your question.â??
Here at WebAdvantage.net, we consider ourselves to be veteran internet searchers, often able to easily find the information we’re after. Considering we spend all day every day online, we should be. Even so, we rarely venture to type search queries in the form of questions on search engines, except for the handful of times we visit AskJeeves.
The thought of being invited to type in a question at MSN’s new search engine intrigued us. We decided to follow the trail of links to learn more about what they were offering. We were, at first, impressed with the pages singing the praises of the new “more precise, more powerful” MSN Search service. We were impressed, that is, until around page five of the “learn more” series of MSN’s site pages. That’s when we started to get tired of clicking “next.”
Turns out there were ten pages devoted to learning more about what MSN Search offers (which perhaps could have been explained less painfully). But at WebAdvantage.net, we’re dedicated online marketing professionals, so we hung in there.
Social Software? Check Out Google Map Mash-Ups

Social Software? Check Out Google Map Mash-Ups
by: Jesse S. Somer
I asked a colleague from work today if he had any news about new Internet phenomena that would be cool to check out. He told me about the concept of social software. Social software is where someone takes an existing computer program and combines it with another idea to make it more personalized for people. A perfect example of this comes in the form of a new craze taking over the world: Google Map mash-ups. http://maps.google.com/ is already a cool site that has taken a personalized approach to many different ways of helping people. For example, I typed in ‘Pizza restaurants’ into the finder with the name of the town my father lives in near Atlanta, Georgia, USA and it showed me exactly where all the pizzas were, the names of the restaurants, and contact details (if I wished to place an order over the phone). Pretty cool. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Other people around the world have taken the Google Map software and combined it with their personal interests to create a whole array of exciting maps filled with photos and information. The ultimate site to check some out is http://googlemapsmania.blogspot.com/.
