Detagged Domains

September 30, 2009

What is a DETAGGED domain name? We get asked this question regularly.

Only UK domain names can be detagged. A domain name that has been DETAGGED is no longer hosted on valid name servers.

What happens if there are no longer valid nameservers showing against a domain name?

If no valid name servers are showing this means that any services such e-mail or a web site will no longer work.

Who can DETAG a domain name?

Only a domain registration service or agent can DETAG a domain name. This happens if the relationship between domain name owner and agent expires, for example if the registration fee or renewal fee is not paid.

When are domain names detagged?

Domain names can be detagged at any point after registration. Detagging signifies the end of the relationship between the registration agent and the registrant.

It is not necessarily an indication of whether a domain name is paid for or not.

How can I tell if a domain name is DETAGGED?

You will probably notice that the email or web site associated with the domain name has stopped working.

Beyond the Box with Googles Web API

September 29, 2009

Google, the most popular, and many say best, search engine, offers searchers many options to help them zero in on just what they’re looking for. Although these search modifier features are documented on own site, many searchers, including experienced marketers and technically savvy people, simple don’t know these features are available. But these features, along with the Google search box, are only available to human searchers, who can type in their search parameters, and perhaps some keyboard scripting programs as well. But there is a way for programmers and web site designers to access Google’s database from their own sites, in the exact way they need. This is done by using Google’s Web API (Application Program Interface).

With the API, programmers can use most any web programming language, such as PHP, ASP, Perl, .NET, and Java. Google’s Web API provides “data hooks” that allow a remote program to access certain portions of Google easily.

You must be very aware of the Google Web API Terms of Service. You must obtain a developer key that you will include in each API use, you are allowed only 1,000 automated queries per day, and perhaps most important, you may not use the Google API for commercial purposes. It is only for your personal use, and you of course may not violate any laws or copyright protection.

Ecards as a marketing tool

September 27, 2009

As any successful businessman will confirm, having a great product or service is just the beginning. After all, in this day and age, everything comes down to marketing. The more creative you are in your marketing efforts, the more successful your business is. There are many ways to promote your business without spending a fortune. In this article I will describe one of the most powerful tools on the Internet ? ecards!

Ecards (electronic greeting cards) are a great example of efficient marketing on the internet. You have a service open to the Internet users. The ecards they send from your site invariably contain promotion for your company, products or services. They are advertising tools that are immediate, inexpensive, personalized and although sent via email, S.P.A.M.-free.

This form of Internet marketing is extremely effective. More than 50% of the U.S. population and 85% of all Internet users visit a greeting’s site annually, according to research firm Jupiter MediaMetrix. Why not use even a small percentage of these potential clients to you advantage? OK, BlueMountain.com has more than 100 million unique visitors each year, but even with less numbers, the potential is there. Remember, with each sent ecard from your site you have at least two potential clients!

The Flu and List building Go Hand In Hand!

September 26, 2009

What does the flu have to do with building your list?

Well a lot!

A flu, just like any other virus is able to spread itself to anyone it comes in contact with.

And when we are building are email lists, we want this same type of viral effect to take place. This viral effect is known as viral marketing.

Viral Marketing is allowing people to giveaway and use your free product or service in order to spread your message quickly over the internet. I also call this form of marketing wild fire marketing because as soon as it starts, it will spread your marketing all over the internet like a wild forest fire. When this happens, it will be difficult to stop it.

The idea behind viral marketing is that you include your ad with a freebie people giveaway or use. The ad will be an advertisement of your ezine or newsletter. Below are ten high impact viral marketing strategies:

1. Allow people to use any of your freebies as free bonuses for products or services they sell. Include your ad on all your freebies. A lot of product owners are willing to do this.

Whats Your Business Online Attitude?

September 26, 2009

This article was prompted by some customer support work I was involved in for a private members site. One of the paid subscription members wanted someone to look over his website and give an opinion of what we thought of its design.

It was clear from the email that they had been online for a while (over 3 years) but hadn’t seen any results from their efforts and were frustrated. Understandably so!

This person had created his own website in which to promote an online Opportunity. The purpose for having your own web site, rather than a static page, (one that you can’t personally change, like the ones the most biz opps provide) is it to “Brand YOU”.

After all, your site visitor is getting involved with something you recommend and in effect will want you to help them succeed.

Your site should not be to *sell* them that’s the job of the company you represent. The purpose of your site is to *refer* them.

Anyway, the first impression of this member’s site was the lack of having it’s own domain name, its own presence. Not a good start and that was even before I visited the site. So before I arrived, my trust as a prospect was wavering.

Internet Web Site Marketing: The Secrets Of Endorsement Marketing

September 25, 2009

What is endorsement marketing?

Endorsement marketing is having famous or reputable people recommend your product or service to others.

It is an important internet web site marketing that can give your business credibility and propel it to the top.

The endorsers could be celebrities, star athletes, musicians, etc.

Choose people that are related to your business and might actually use your product or service.

Before asking anyone for an endorsement be sure your product or service gives the results you say it does.

They may ask you to prove it before they will agree to give an endorsement.

Once you find the ideal person to endorse your product or service simply contact them and ask.

When proposing any endorsement deal make it a win/win situation.

Tell them you would get the endorsement and they would get free publicity.

If they’re selling a product or service, you could exchange endorsements.

If they ask for a fee, try to give them a percentage of the profits instead.

Once you get an endorsement from someone, use it on all your advertising and marketing material.

Put their endorsement and picture on your Web site.

Google Wireless - Search Away From Home

September 24, 2009

For so many web surfers, it’s almost automatic to type Google.com in to our address bar when we want to search. So big and well-known is Google that many browsers have a built-in search box or typed shortcut for Google searches. In fact, we tend to associate Google with search so much now that the word itself is commonly used as a verb, as in “let me Google that”. It’s much the same as Band-Aid, Kleenex, and Xerox, where the brand name is so pervasive that it’s very often substituted for the generic function of the item the brand is applied to.

We’re used to searching from home, where we’ve had Internet access for years now. But Google Wireless search is also available for use from Internet-ready cell phones and some wireless PDA devices such as PalmOne and Palm VII.

To search from Google Wireless, you will need access to the Internet through your wireless device. This can usually be arranged through your cellular carrier if you don’t already have it. You can search the “mobile web”, which is a collection of web pages that have been designed specifically for wireless devices. With Google Wireless search, you can also search all of Google, and the search results will be translated into a type of display language that your mobile device can interpret.

Your Graphics- Are They Really Working For You?

September 22, 2009

(Making Your Graphics Work For You)

It’s no secret that a picture is worth a thousand words or that people really do judge a book by its cover. Effectively using graphic headers, e-covers and background graphics can send your profits soaring. Amateur looking graphics are worse than no graphics at all.

The graphics you use on your website should intensify the screen’s message. Correctly used graphics will activate the prospects emotions into a buying mode. This can be effectively accomplished by incorporating a few simple marketing strategies into your graphic designs.

For example, when choosing the color of your graphics don’t simply choose your favorite color. Identify your niche market and target the color scheme of your graphics to that market. Let’s use a gardening site as an example. You wouldn’t want to use colors like purple, gold or silver, as they aren’t very prevalent in nature. Greens, browns, and orange colors are much better suited to display the intent of a gardening site.
